How Big Is Your MYSPACE Economy?

I came across some recent articles recently on the whole MYSPACE fiasco. Its no longer some playground for sexual preditors !!! Its a real, legitimate business tool. In the past couple of weeks theres was a recent push in getting an entire audience generated ONILNE through MYSPACE.

Up until a few weeks ago the mere suggestion of this seemed laughable. If anything, if you were over 21 and prowling around Myspace you were either looked down upon or risked the classification of being labeled as "one of them".

But not FOX Entertainment and movie companies are embracing this technology and a new term is in our midst. MYSPACE ECONOMY. This basically translates to an online popularity contest and how many people out there are really connecting to it?

YouTube Goes Mobile

"Reuters - eWEEK Tue Nov 28, 3:49 AM ET
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Verizon Wireless said on Tuesday it would deliver selected video clips from YouTube to cell phones starting in December in a bid to increase subscriptions to its mobile media service.

YouTube, the leading online video sharing site which was bought by Internet search leader Google Inc. this month, said it hopes to expand beyond computers to phones. It did not reveal the financial terms of the deal."

New York Times - Reuters

This is going to be HUGE for those who are looking to do their own commercials,
video clips and promotions.

To see this technology in motion we have uploaded some clips for a beauty client.

The Return Of Google Analytics

Getting on Google Analytics program used to be a major pain. You had to wait to get accepted because the line to get in was incredibly long. Each site was hand picked and evaluated.

Thats all changed now in the recent weeks. The doors are wide open. The best thing about this program is that you do not have to know all the nuts and bolts about how it operates. Thats a relief to some of us who are afraid of all of this rapid growing technology. However, what you may find out about your web site could stun you. So make sure you are sitting when you check for your results. You could be in for quite a shock.

We were surprised to find that on some of our sites 70% of the visitors were new. They were not returning. The numbers then got really interesting.

23% were from AOL
12% were from YouTube.com
Google
Yahoo

Then the other percentages ran so small that it was hardly worth counting.....

MSN
Ask Jeeves
Technorati
Ipodder
etc.

These numbers ARE GROWING. But, like with everything this does take time. Still, I wasn't quite ready for the types of results that came rolling in. But this is the hard reality that everyone will have to face as they shell out more money into their online marketing programs. You need to track your numbers and where your traffic is coming from.

Get ready for a real eye opening.

Make Way For The New Podcast -- Professionals ??

USA Today had two interesting posts on Friday for the weekend edition. If you looked in the Marketplace Today section you will find some very interesting business ops for investors. One is for Online Marketing, (you can make $12k off each customer per year).... another one reads and offers to teach you how to create your own Online Marketing, RSS, Blogging, Podcasting business for $10,000.

These companies also boast that they created "millions" in sales. This is interesting to me since this is such a young industry, (with most of its innovations just begining less than 8 months ago). If you type in any of these names into Yahoo they barely make a register and this should be deemed as disturbing.

The point is that there are a lot of web sites out there which are marketed quite poorly. These include improper linking strategies and missing meta tag data information. There is plenty of room for growth.

But if you are going to invest that kind of money into a program you need to know the game. The problem with this type of invested is that its profound statements come up "missing" where it counts the most. That is to say -- they do not come up in Online searches.

BUYER BEWARE.

YOUTUBE.COM VS COMMERCIAL TELEVISION ADVERTISING

The recent issue of Wired Magazine is talking our language. Finally, for the first time in print the truth has been finally exposed for all to see. Instead of plastering your advertising or marketing message on commercial television or instead of paying for airtime you can put the same message on WWW.YOUTUBE.COM.

This was mentioned to some extent on http://fascube.blogspot.com We recently did some nice video pieces with a hair care line and posted the videos onto YouTube and used their bandwidth. The choice was obvious. Our web site hosting company would not cooperate with our needs and we needed video hosting.

By feeding them through YouTube and looping them in through our web pages we were able to use THEIR bandwidth. This worked out great because now we wouldn’t get charged a large amount per month to use a video service.

There are some requirements. We couldn’t go over 10 minutes and we had to keep the clip down under 100 megs. This isn’t a problem after you render the video down to an AVI file. Although if you render the video clip to an MPEG 4 you will find it to be more adaptable. This will also bring the size WAYYYY down.

This new campaign is going to cost us…. Pennies – literally. Nevermind the expense that it took to cut the video, resize it, transfer it and crop it – the distribution of these pieces is going to be a mere fraction of what commercial television would cost.

Its not even fair.

YET, This is what is happening and it’s the early adapters to this new technology that will win big.

BUD TV

The New York Times reported this morning that Brands are making their own shows to get more customers. Last month we mentioned the Burger King Motion Picture and that was pretty outrageous enough. Now Budweiser is getting into the act.

"BUD TV" is going to have several online channels offering different types of programming in order to sell more products. Advertising agencies are lining up for the big contracts.

Small business can actually benefit greatly by copying this strategy. The next time you are thinking about an infomercial think of distributing it through a video server, AKA YouTube.com The other thing you can do is distribute it through your affiliate program.

This is a great way to infiltrate your product into the mass teen market and generate more interest.

Enter The Strange World of K7 - If You Dare.....

I recently got new podcast episodes out on the scene and they attracted some ... strange attention. In a routine entry about whats new in the Fashion World and the latest news on the You Tube Phenomenon I somehow angered a great deal of people.

Enough to send hate mail, cursing and all out rage on my K-7 800 number. The messages were bizarre to say the least. But what is strange about it, (as if that wasn't strange enough) was that the profanity wasn't necessarily aimed at me. It appeared that I was somehow caught in the middle of other peoples conversations.

By the way, you can get a free K-7 800 number when you use services like www.podomatic.com.

The messages included a woman crying hysterically about.... something. Another one was an outraged man screaming into the phone incoherantly. And the other messages left were from a couple of good ol boys, who seemed ... lost.

Here is what is strange about it. The direct marketing topics we cover on this blog and in my personal podcasts and sites reflect what is happening in the headlines today. If Forbes, Business 2.0, Google, Wall Street Journal and the business section in the Chicago Tribune.... (gasp) UPSETS YOU.. for some strange reason... then by all means you have the option of not listening or unsubscribing from our RSS feeds.

You cannot stop the power of the internet or deny any of these powerful innovations that are taking place on a rampant progression. It is happening much to quickly.

911Copywriters .. Is dedicated to helping ALL businesses against sloth-like business tactics -- corporate waste --- and misuse of funds and technology.

If thats offensive -- then we are going to keep on OFFENDING.

Take My Web Site PLEASE !!!

The recent wave of web sites got it right. Sharing your content is THE WAY TO GO. Why just live on one web site when you can live on .... 50 others?

The Recent Borat Phenom.... has it right. They are using My Space to help promote the movie. This is being used and shared by the fans. Just like an earlier entry I mentioned Pop Secret Mountain. The fans are sharing the content while adding the cut and paste code into their own web sites.

This is a great way to let people promote your marketing message. More companies can learn from these examples. This is another way to improve search engine rankings, stay relevant in Google and make the most out of your online marketing.

Besides Google loves getting new content !!!

What The "*&^%$" Is Podcasting?

Last week I was out looking for some good microphones to continue my weekly podcasting shows. I went to Best Buy of all places thinking they would be up on some of this stuff. The staff there was not only "out of it" but the service was pretty rank as well.

I got another cold reception from the owner of a Mail Boxes Etc. It appeared the web site they used was "more than adequate" even though critical material was missing from his site including Meta Data.. Keywords and Hyperlinks... and.. no visible linking strategy.

Podcasting... as well as blogging and RSS feeds are THE FUTURE. This is as about as good as its going to get for quite sime time. They have done phenomenal things for my traffic ranking and my clients that up until a few months ago were unheard of.

Commercial Radio in my opinion is the worst waste of money out there when you compare it with these new emerging technologies.

Here is a great source for podcast equipment for the faithful.

And here is another good source with some stats on it as well.
