Internet Dental Marketing Takes A Hit - Part 2

As Internet presence you need to exhibit some sense of control. And it is hard to get a grasp on Internet dental marketing when your formatting is limited. I actually prefer to either get a template to work out of that I purchase from a web company that I can upload myself to a blank hosting account. I want to be able to manipulate the HTML to have it speak directly to search engine spiders. I also would be open to manipulate the entire HTML pages from scratch if I had a choice. Buying a pre-fabricated solution from a phone company would seriously be my last choice in the world of Internet marketing. I would demand that I have this level of sophistication and control from my web site for one very simple reason.

Search Engine Spiders Travel Through Hyperlinks
To put things bluntly search engine spiders travel through hyperlinks looking for very specific keywords and conditions. I prefer to think of them as ticks hopping from one infected dog to another looking for a new host. This is the true nature of the search engines. There is a cohesive process involved that in dental organizations fail to recognize it. But that is their loss. Your customers are fickle and are looking for very specific things and do not necessarily want to do business with you. Your prospects are really in search for information.

I have come to the conclusion that nobody really goes online to buy stuff. We have become an information hording civilization and this is nowhere more true than the Internet. The sites that offer the least amount of information stand to lose on two levels. One, the search engines will give you a low page rank and not take you very seriously. Two, your customers will get bored with your online offerings and choose to find another online dental presence that will answer their questions.

In the end, nobody really cares that much about your staff or that you love people. I have found that your online prospects are really self serving characters after all. They want to know the big burning question and that is, "What's In It For Me?".

There are certain stop words that search engine spiders see and that spells out bad news for your web site. If you do not have the right structure in your site then it is not going to be able to be crawled through very effectively. In addition if you have to wrong long tailed keywords in your site you can pretty much forget about attracting traffic.

This stuff is so touchy. But that is the what you need to know when you do Internet Dental Marketing.

Internet Dental Marketing Takes A Hit - Part 1

I recently looked into some of the top cosmetic dental groups in my immediate area. As a direct response marketer I couldn't help but notice how clueless some of them were when it comes to online marketing. One common problem that was obvious to me was the fact that many of these Dental web sites had come from the phone company.

These sites in particular offered many new challenges and several interesting problems. First, they were almost impossible to manipulate for the search engines. The HTML included in these sites are pretty basic and they were very limited when it came down to the nitty gritty.

Whats The Deal With Meta Keywords?
Are meta data keywords important? A lot of people in the know say they are not that important. I have seen negative articles written about this topic in tech publications such as, "Web Designer" magazine. We have tested the arrangement of this type of material in my studio and found some rather interesting points of interest. If you do not arrange them in a certain order you will botch up the description of your web page on the SERPS, (Google search engine result pages). The search engine spiders will jump down and grab a hold of the first bit of text it can. If that bit of text happens to be, "Closed on Sundays" then your web site page will look rather unspectacular online. It will read something like, "Welcome to Smith Cosmetic Dentistry - Closed on Sundays". There is very little chance that your page listing is going to get clicked on anytime soon. There would be the missed opportunity to truly sell your services.

Example: "Welcome To Smith Family Dentistry - Cosmetic Dental Surgery Is Here and Brings Relief to S.E. Michigan".

I can list two sentences inside the description and this is my chance to REALLY sell the dental company. Sadly, a lot of dental practices do not do this because they lack the basic knowledge to do so. I honestly believe that the description section is the absolute best place to sell your services. In fact, it is important to treat this area like you would treat direct mail. This serves a double purpose. On one hand it is there to really deliver a preview to your online prospect. It should entice them enough to click on the above blue link, (Title of web page) and open your page.

You want your web page to get opened just like you want your direct mail to get opened. The whole purpose of being out there online is to get seen before your competition just like in direct mail. I do not see this to be any different because the objection is the same.

Video Mini Sites With Muscle

What Do You Do With A Runaway Hit?

It used to take nothing short of a modern miracle to get any kind of exposure on Google. But now with a few smart tactics it is possible to get real recognition in little time. I am grateful for the multiple video search engines that are out there. The web has been getting more visual for months but lately this phenomenon has exploded.

Here is a sample of why I like web video....
http://www.1michigandentist.com

Thanks to web video you can now build a site that will get noticed. I like using web 2.0 video because it has multiple lifeforms. In short, I like web video because it lives on Iphones, Ipods, mobile devices, web sites, blogs and even in ebooks, (if you got the know how....). This can be a pretty powerful thing.

The other reason why I like web video is because it pre-sells my clients. I am usually up for not having to cold call people or do a hard sell in person. Pre-selling allows you to pretty much avoid the whole classic Tom Hopkins approach to selling. I noticed that even my closings are different from days of distant past.

Check out the mini site.

Its a good way to go.

Does Twitter Matter?

I had to admit I really did not understand Twitter when it first came out. Perhaps that is because it was explained to me so poorly. I could not understand why this was such a powerful "Revolution"

When I jumped on and looked around I found various statements such as, "I love baked beans", and "What I would not do for some decent mustard!" and lots of political mumbo jumbo which resembled more like graffiti.

I lost interest until I did some Googling on my name. I was stunned when I found some of my ramblings posted as actual Google listings! Thank goodness I wasn't pontificating on baked beans and political rants. Someone's boredom had become documentable "evidence" in a very short time.

Luckily for me I was writing about some pretty profound things. I was commmenting on things that I found interesting and citing authors, books, happenings and general topics of interest. I wonder how many other people out there actually know that their mind numbing observations will be set in stone...

... for eternity?

Michigan Estate Planning Secrets - With Joseph Dadich - Part 1

"Whats So BIG About Web Video?"

When you look at these clips its amazing the kind of equipment that was used to produce them. This particular one didn't have any wires in the camera jacks. In fact, there was no place to put them because it was shot on the new Flip Cam.

It was produced, processed and posted in less than ten minutes.

This clip of Estate Planning Attorney, Joseph Dadich, was shot on a minutes notice. We edited it down for distribution for the online video networks. These were incredibly easy to produce.

Stay tuned for more information....

“Building The Online Roads That Lead To Your Website!” - Part 2

Another way to drive people to your site is to always be in the mindset of inviting people to something. You want to think in terms of “events”. Throwing a webinar on the Internet is a perfect opportunity to invite people to something big. It allows you ample time to conduct your sales pitch in a style that’s comfortable for you. You can showcase what you are doing in front of a crowd and have visuals to work with whether it be an online video or a Powerpoint presentation. To me this is more effective than running a teleseminar where you don’t have that type of direct control over your audience.

There was a study done not too long ago that illustrated the importance of dealing with a visual and audio media when it comes to selling. A wide majority of people like to be communicated to in a fluid visual manner. There are a percentage of those who will appreciate a sales letter environment. They will in turn read a great deal of this material as long as it ties in with their areas of interest. You will need to find out what these are and how it relates to your business.

Thinking in Themes
Out of all of the mistakes I see clients make is the inability to think in themes. If you have a target market for Golf for example then you need to think above the obvious. You need to think where that main market splinters off into tangent markets. You want to track where the money goes and how it is spent. You want to figure out where else that customer spends their money on various things. Do they have a different view on travel than most people? Do they frequent bed and breakfasts as opposed to a economy hotel when on the road? Do they like the finer things in life such as premium scotches or watches? What periodicals do they read? And if this is your market then you need to be thinking of how you can get your marketing message into these environments so you can attract these folks.

Some call this process of thinking mind mapping. I call it common sense. You must also keep in mind that not all markets behave the same way or even react the same way. One of my clients recently complained about his market to me because they were not ordering off of his online shopping cart. His customers would in turn call the main office and place their orders over the phone. It did not matter so much that they acted in a predictable manner but what mattered most was that they were ordering the product and paying the premium price. You may have to make adjustments in your marketing and your understanding of your customer as you build your relationships.

“Building The Online Roads That Lead To Your Website!” - Part 1

I see a lot of elaborate web sites being built and sold in this business of online marketing. I see them come in all sizes. Some light up and spin around like pinball machines and others are as dry as melba toast and half as sophisticated. Some are designed to sell, (but not always too well) and others are brilliant but are not positioned properly online.

And for many companies – this is where their pain begins.

If you got a strategy that works for your online marketing you can transfer that to your other sites. But what happens when that technology fizzles out and becomes obsolete. I always think about the technology that existed just a short while ago in the broadcast FAX market. A lot of companies sat back on their haunches and let that technology drive their business – in many cases – right over Niagra Falls. I am surprised at how many companies I run into that expect a fat living from a site that has no proven ways to drive traffic to it. Having high visibility is not always enough. Getting high on the search engines is great for visibility but you always need to place your site in front of enough of the right people who may want your goods and services.

Beware of Self Arrogance
It’s easy to fall in love with your own product or service. And yes, love is blind. It becomes easy to miss out on the necessary details when you are so self absorbed with your own business and that can cost you. Many companies do not bother to build at least 12 strong incoming lead sources to their businesses online or otherwise. Keep in mind that all of these sources do not have to be online in nature. These can be classified ads, display ads, direct mail, yellow page advertisements, pay per click ads, and more.

Michigan Indebtedness and Bankruptcy - Part 3

Most reverse mortgage borrowers pay off any prior debt with an initial lump sum advance from their reverse mortgage.

The amount of money you would receive depends most on the specific mortgage plan or program you select. The experts at Kaye Financial will research every available program with various lenders to ensure the best plan with the best rate for your specific situation. Some reverse mortgages cost a lot more than others, and this reduces the amount of cash you would receive. Within each loan program, the cash amounts you can expect depend on:

When the loan is over, you or your heirs must repay all of your cash advances plus interest, which is usually satisfied by the sale of the home. Because a reverse mortgage is a non-recourse loan, you or your heirs are never going to owe more than your home is worth.

Michigan Indebtedness and Bankruptcy - Part 2

A recent report from Demos, a New York based public policy research group found an alarming increase in credit card debt among older Americans. The Demos report “Retiring in the Red,” found that self-reported credit card debt among seniors age 65 and over increased to 89% in the past 10 years. Seniors between 65 and 69, presumably the newly retired, reported a staggering 217% increase in credit card debt over the same period of time.

More and more Americans are drowning in debt and turning to bankruptcy court for relief. As a group, people over 65 have the distinction of having not only the fastest growing home debt, but also the fastest growing share of personal bankruptcy filings and the biggest growth in demand for credit counseling. Recent studies show that over 82,000 Americans 65 or older filed for bankruptcy this past year, up 244% in the past 10 years, according to the Consumer Bankruptcy Project, a study done at Harvard.

The United States Department of Justice, which runs the federal bankruptcy trustee program, released a study that painted a grim picture of the future for many older Americans.

The Justice Department concludes that although the elderly are less likely to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy than younger people, a significant number of them do file each year. The number of elderly filers is likely to grow in the coming years.

A reverse mortgage can be done if the borrower(s) have filed bankruptcy and it has been discharged. In some cases, the bankruptcy can be paid at closing. Call Kaye Financial if you have filed bankruptcy. Our experience as one of the top a reverse mortgage lenders in Michigan will advise if a reverse mortgage can work for you!

As stated by a professor at Cornell University, “more than 620,000 elderly households could be raised above the poverty line if they obtained a reverse mortgage”.

Reverse mortgages generally must be “first” mortgages, that is, they must be the primary debt against your home. So if you owe money on your property, you generally must do one of two things:

Michigan Indebtedness and Bankruptcy - Part 1

For senior adults living on a fixed income, escalating debt can lead to financial ruin.
More and more of the elderly are in outright financial distress.

One in seven households headed by someone 65 years of age or older was considered heavily indebted in 2006 – devoting at least 40% of their income to debt payments, according to the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Consumer Finances. That compared with one in ten among all households in debt.

While home loans are usually their biggest payment, the elderly have been rapidly accumulating other debts as well. Credit card bills – to cover everything from minor emergencies to ongoing essentials – have risen sharply. All told, the debt burdens of borrowers between the ages of 65 and 74 have doubled in the past 10 years according to the Federal Reserve.

Kaye Reverse - Michigan Reverse Mortgage Specialist Part 3

Q: Do I have to pay income tax on the proceeds?
A: Proceeds received from a reverse mortgage are loan advances and not taxable income.

Q: What is a reverse mortgage?
A: A reverse mortgage is a special type of home loan that allows a homeowner to convert a portion of the equity in his or her home into cash. The equity built up over years of home mortgage payments can be paid to you. But unlike a tradional home equity loan or second mortgage, no repayment is required until the borrower(s) no longer use the home as their principal residence. HUD's reverse mortgage provide these benefits, and is deferally insured as well.

Q: Can I qualify for a HUD reverse mortgage?
A: To be eligible, FHA requires that the borrower is 62 years of age or older, own your home and must live in the home. You will receive consumer information from a Kaye Financial Mortgage Senior Loan Advisor, who will also review your goals and objectives in order to come to a plan which best meets your needs. There are NO credit, NO income and NO health requirements.

Kaye Reverse - Michigan Reverse Mortgage Specialist Part 2

Reverse mortgages, also known as Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECM) are becoming increasingly popular in America. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban development (HUD) created one of the first forms of HECM's HUD's reverse mortgage is a federally-insured private loan, and it is a safe plan that can give older Americans greater finacial security.

If you are 62 years of age or older and have equity in your home, a reverse mortgage can turn that equity into cash. You can receive your money as a lump sum, monthly payments, line of credit or any combination of these choices. Many seniors use it to supplement social security, meet unexpected medical expenses, make home improvements and more. Since your home is probably your largest single investment, it's smart to know more about reverse mortgages and decide if one is right for you.

Is It Possible to Profit From Mobile Devices?

Should You Advertise On Mobile Devices?
There are so many opportunities springing up all over now with Internet and mobile communication. As a business owner you may be wondering if this is a smart move for you. Is this really an effective way to communicate to the masses?

Consider for a moment the potential that is out there. A recent poll by the Neilsen Rating group demonstrated the power of using this platform. Out of 58 million people over 50% stated they were fine with advertising on their mobile devices. The consensus was unanimous.

People were fine with the idea of having advertising displayed on their mobile devices if it lowered their bill every month. What followed next is a worth jotting down. Half of the group that was contacted responded to the sales offer. This meant roughly, 28 million people, had responded positively to the message that was sent via their handheld device.

According to the study Asians and Blacks were the most receptive to the advertisements. They were the most likely to text the ad back and get more information. The youth market was also very receptive to advertising and were able to remember certain ads they had seen on their mobile devices.

Marketing Freaks, Bullies and Pinheads Let Me Down, (Again)

"I'm Tellin' Ya, I'm PULLING A 100,000 BUCKS A DAY !!! HOW MUCH YOU MAKIN'?"

I got three people in this category. These guys are always ready to pull out their wallets and spit out huge numbers of profits. Of course, my eyes are supposed to glaze over and I am expected to shudder in my shoes. I get a lot of this from people... A LOT.

But just recently I figured out a trick on Google and I got to check out how many links they had. I got to see just how "BIG" these guys really were online and how influential they really were. I got to tell you that I wasn't shocked. But I am disappointed in them as human beings.

It sounds too outrageous to be true but I get this all the time.

I won't give you their names or even tell you what they sell online, (My God, they could be reading this!). But I will tell you their numbers.

Are you ready for this?

The one guy who told me he was netting $100,000 dollars a day only has 8 incoming links.

The other guy who told me he was an International sensation only had 7 links.

Another "expert" in his field only had a grand total of 19 links. WORLD WIDE.

So what I am saying to you is this.... Be careful who you are dealing with on the web. Chances are they are not who they say they are. There is a VERY SIMPLE way to check. In fact, I would suggest to do this with just about ANYBODY you want to do business with to see if they are the real deal or not.

Check out my article database too when you have time, (its a terrible thing to waste).

Microsoft and Yahoo - A Good Combination?

Its all over the news. Microsoft and Yahoo could possibly merge and become one entity. What would this mean for you as a marketer? It is an exciting notion but if my Vista software is any indication this could spell out disaster. My laptop is still in the shop thanks to some foul up in the syntax -- who really knows.....

The other thing that happened recently was my Microsoft Office didn't recognize me as the rightful owner this afternoon. I had to go out and buy another version of this software to meet some deadlines. Needless to say this ruined my Monday. It also pushed all of my deadlines up and I am overworked as it is.

Now as I sit here reading my New York Times this morning it hits me. This could be one heck of a disaster waiting to happen.

Will this new merge bring new tools for the web community? Or will it just hog up resources and create more havoc? It is going to be somewhat difficult to figure out. I have no ideas what kinds of plans they will throw on me.

And either do you.... ;)

SEO Secrets – Making Money Online – What You Need To Know

SEO Secrets – Making Money Online – What You Need To Know: "There are a lot of things you need to know before you can accept credit cards on your web site. This always seems to startle some people when I bring it up. The overall view on this topic is that making money online, (as opposed to off line) is relatively easy.

Back in the not so distant past it was fairly simple to hook up a credit card processor, (online gateway) to your web site and accept payment. There weren’t too many rules you had to follow to make this happen. The biggest hurdle you had to worry about was paying the entrance fee and keeping up with the monthly payments. But this game has become a bit more complicated in the past recent months."

Online Marketing and Cultivating Your Inner Genius

"HATE MAIL AND THE PRICE OF FAME"

I get a lot of hate mail and slander from a lot of techno nicotine addicted, caffinated, nerve twittering jerkaholics who never see the light of day outside their crummy office jobs. This latest tirade comes from some disgruntled dweeb out of Boston.

Ah... Boston.

Here is the skinny. This guy claims that EVERYTHING YOU EVER NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ONLINE MARKETING can be had for FREE. Thats right. Everything you ever need to know about how to create 8 out of 10 hits on Google and beyond should be found... free of charge.. on the web.

Now, you know the GOOD stuff is hard to come by. Its like BBQ. Sure you can go down to your local KFC and take whatever they hand you. Or you can make the trek down to Memphis and rub elbows with a real craftsman. Its totally up to you as the consumer. You choose your own experience.

"EVERYTHING ON THE WEB IS ENTIRELY FREE"
If you know anything about marketing, (tsk tsk, and its obvious many of you do not) will know that nothing is entirely free -- especially good marketing. Why do you think Dan Kennedy programs are $2,500 +? Brett McFall is not cheap either. Ever try to learn everything you can about copywriting and find out later you have to hire a consultant or get into someones bootcamp? You buy their experience and to cut down your learning curve.

The rule of thumb is to give out SOME information but not all of it. You want to have some sort of lead capture on your pages. They get the good stuff after they commit to corresponding with you in some form, (either getting on your mailing list or buying a product or service).

WTF.COM
I rip on Flash a lot. Thats because for the MOST part, (not always) it pops up as a big black box. If you are a certified gear head, (This guy never bothered to post any type of credentials -- only a grimacing poorly lit picture of himself) then you should have seen this in one of the many SEO books on the market.

HINT: Pick up a book next time before you shoot your mouth off.

Here is more on that subject....

And while I'm on the subject.

.NET -- SO WHAT... You use whatever it takes to get that job done.
FLASH - We all know advertising specialists are paid for their creativity and awards. They do not get paid whenever the client wins a lot of dough through their campaign.
.ASP - Depends on your order forms.
.CSS - This depends on if you have a lot of content and you want it manageable.

As marketers we can get caught up in the trivial stuff. Not every platform is going to be suitable for every job. I've popped the lid on a few .NET sites in my time and was surprised to find that there were no "GUTS" to the entire collection of pages. There was nothing for the spiders to grab onto so I wasn't very impressed.

There is a human element too in conjunction with all this techno babble. It is a pretty good idea at some point to be LIKEABLE. Think about that one.

Ted Cantu gets hate mail and praises of joy from all over the IT Community. He also gets 8 out of 10 in searches for his clients and has offices in Metro Detroit, Stamford, CT, and Chicago. He can be found at http://www.1seomichigan.com.

FREE- Red Hot Marketing Articles For Your Sites and Blogs - Part 2

This is a great strategy to get spiders to come and visit your site. If you are not tapping into your niche categories and tangent markets then listen up. You Search engine rankings really depend on being relevant.

That means your content is your really your best bet for high visibility. I suggest that every site out there get some form of article base. This not only helps your customers but it also helps further explain to your public what you can provide.

The problem with a lot of SEO firms and web site owners is the lack of clarification. Many people on both parties think that you can get these type of rankings with only 5 pages. If we are talking about real market penetration and building a brand online it is going to be very difficult to be seen with only a few sparse pages.

The Power Of Numbers
I would much rather take on smaller amounts of sub categories of my main keyword, (in 47,000 or 120,000) than tackle something huge like 12 million. The category for "Hair Products" has 60 million searches every month. It would be smarter to break that category down into smaller groups and dominating every one of those fields.

For example:

Womans Hair Conditioner - 45,500
Hair Color Products - 22,000
Hair Color Removal - 55,000

Eventually you are going to be at the top of all of these markets if you put your SEO to work in your pages. You have to have the proper network to support all of these pages - whether they come in the form of blogs, podcasts, social network sites and your web site.

An article section is a great place to start doing all of this.

“Ignoring The Chain of Command – Insights to 2008 Internet Marketing”

I had a meeting with my coach the other day. We were looking into the possibilities of what I wanted out of 2008. I immediately blurted out that I wanted to put more of my marketing into systems that would generate more income.

He said it was a good answer.

The idea of putting your marketing into profit generating systems should be your goal too. It is rare for someone on the Internet to plunk down $2,500 or more right off the bat with little or no credibility. It takes a while to build up this type of rapport with people. That is why going for the big guns right away online is a foolish move.

Managing your profit funnels into smaller channels is a much smarter way of handling your marketing situation. Imagine the customer’s point of view when they come to your site. They want to get into your site and walk out with as much free information as possible.

It’s difficult to get a commitment when you throw everything at them at once. Worse, if you have only 5 pages to work with it is going to be harder for you to compete against so many other web pages out there. To be king of the heap you need to be strategic.

Keep in mind now that there are at least 7 different types of search engines out there……
