Blogging Platforms - What Should I Use?

I get asked this question a lot and believe it or not I like Blogger. No no no, not because its easier to use. But because Blogger lets Google knows about me first. It is owned by Google so that makes it very convenient for them to find me.

Yes.... I like Blogger... Honest !!

The new features are good too. This new Beta version has some rather cool features on it and it allows others to find me - fairly quickly! And if you play your cards right, (face it, not many of us do) you can really ping yourself to the top of the line in front of your competition. Rather nifty I'd say.

A Word About TypePad
You can set up style sheets in TypePad which is nice. It has a very polished look about it and they seem to update their features a lot. You have to pay to use TypePad because it is integrated into a hosting system.

The nice thing is that when you do host with them monthly you get three Blogs to fiddle around with.
You can read all about TypePad here......

"You don’t need to be a professional designer or spend thousands of dollars to have a great looking blog."

Thats a quote from their web page..... Thousands of dollars for a blog? lol
Dear me I should hope not !!!

How Big Is Your MYSPACE Economy?

I came across some recent articles recently on the whole MYSPACE fiasco. Its no longer some playground for sexual preditors !!! Its a real, legitimate business tool. In the past couple of weeks theres was a recent push in getting an entire audience generated ONILNE through MYSPACE.

Up until a few weeks ago the mere suggestion of this seemed laughable. If anything, if you were over 21 and prowling around Myspace you were either looked down upon or risked the classification of being labeled as "one of them".

But not FOX Entertainment and movie companies are embracing this technology and a new term is in our midst. MYSPACE ECONOMY. This basically translates to an online popularity contest and how many people out there are really connecting to it?

YouTube Goes Mobile

"Reuters - eWEEK Tue Nov 28, 3:49 AM ET
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Verizon Wireless said on Tuesday it would deliver selected video clips from YouTube to cell phones starting in December in a bid to increase subscriptions to its mobile media service.

YouTube, the leading online video sharing site which was bought by Internet search leader Google Inc. this month, said it hopes to expand beyond computers to phones. It did not reveal the financial terms of the deal."

New York Times - Reuters

This is going to be HUGE for those who are looking to do their own commercials,
video clips and promotions.

To see this technology in motion we have uploaded some clips for a beauty client.

The Return Of Google Analytics

Getting on Google Analytics program used to be a major pain. You had to wait to get accepted because the line to get in was incredibly long. Each site was hand picked and evaluated.

Thats all changed now in the recent weeks. The doors are wide open. The best thing about this program is that you do not have to know all the nuts and bolts about how it operates. Thats a relief to some of us who are afraid of all of this rapid growing technology. However, what you may find out about your web site could stun you. So make sure you are sitting when you check for your results. You could be in for quite a shock.

We were surprised to find that on some of our sites 70% of the visitors were new. They were not returning. The numbers then got really interesting.

23% were from AOL
12% were from YouTube.com
Google
Yahoo

Then the other percentages ran so small that it was hardly worth counting.....

MSN
Ask Jeeves
Technorati
Ipodder
etc.

These numbers ARE GROWING. But, like with everything this does take time. Still, I wasn't quite ready for the types of results that came rolling in. But this is the hard reality that everyone will have to face as they shell out more money into their online marketing programs. You need to track your numbers and where your traffic is coming from.

Get ready for a real eye opening.

Make Way For The New Podcast -- Professionals ??

USA Today had two interesting posts on Friday for the weekend edition. If you looked in the Marketplace Today section you will find some very interesting business ops for investors. One is for Online Marketing, (you can make $12k off each customer per year).... another one reads and offers to teach you how to create your own Online Marketing, RSS, Blogging, Podcasting business for $10,000.

These companies also boast that they created "millions" in sales. This is interesting to me since this is such a young industry, (with most of its innovations just begining less than 8 months ago). If you type in any of these names into Yahoo they barely make a register and this should be deemed as disturbing.

The point is that there are a lot of web sites out there which are marketed quite poorly. These include improper linking strategies and missing meta tag data information. There is plenty of room for growth.

But if you are going to invest that kind of money into a program you need to know the game. The problem with this type of invested is that its profound statements come up "missing" where it counts the most. That is to say -- they do not come up in Online searches.

BUYER BEWARE.
