Ted Cantu - Rage Against The Media Machine

Whew -- what a wind up....

EVEN IF YOUR NUMBER ONE - ITS NOT ENOUGHBeing number one on the search engines is still not enough. You need to understand the shift that is happening with our media. As more newspapers close and fold up the big dogs move in and in this case its the Yellow Pages....There are other traditional media sources too such as Val Pak and the list goes on. There is a fundamental flaw with all of these big groups and that is they do not understand the web or how to use it.

The web is becoming more crowded and keeping your page 1 status may not be enough to get a new customer. More businesses are turning to the web and it is going to get very congested.

There are two things you will want to keep in mind -- even though you are on page 1.

1. How Strong Are Your URL's?Even though you have high ranking positions that doesn't mean your on page PR,( page rank)is going to be very high. So by all means strengthen it. Create valuable links to it through social media. This is very time consuming of course but you should have someone creating value for your web pages out there. Google still counts page rank as an important factor.

2. Create links, backlinks, and authority links....Create links to your websites. Make sure that you are creating great PR, (press releases)-- a different kind of PR. You know that whole "PR" thing is very confusing. We use it freely throughout the SEO world but you get the idea. Create content that references your business on the web. I like press releases and I like to put my companies into major media sources such as CBS News Watch and so on....

** IF you can possibly arrange it this is the way to market your company. Eventually after you get enough page 1 positions you can stop with your pay per click if that is a concern of yours.

Ted Cantu Is Full Of Truth......

Funny what can happen in just a years time. A year ago we were getting slammed for some pretty ridiculous things. The problem started when I started attacking conventional thinking in regards to advertising. It seems that a lot of us out there are mentally married to expensive advertising, pay per click, yellow pages and some other costly things....

TELEVISION VS WEB VIDEO
The comment I made about television was the one that really set the automotive industry off their rocker. The idea here is that graphics need to look dynamic, filled with rapid edits, and come off like a Hollywood commercial. We took the opposite spin on this and created hand held shots, used cheap HD cameras, and did some green screen composite shots and mocked television informercials. Yes, it was decidedly low budget but it served a purpose.

The videos that we shot for the web did everything the automotive companies didn't do. As a result we acheived 47,000 views for some of our clips and that was just on YouTube alone. My automotive companies did not fare as well. They pulled a dismal 80+ views and so it goes.....

We did a lot of other changes too in our company recently. We no longer feature models in our clips. Again, we tested this out and found out that the consumers who watch our video clips are looking for the guy next door. They do not crave Hollywood they are just looking for someone who is honest and believable.

Web video is different than television on many levels. Television has certain standards that the advertisers live to stand up to. Web video has no pretentions and is open to experimentation, off the cuff comedy, and spontaneity. It also offers a chance to communicate on a soul level than with television commercial culture.

IMPORTANT KEY POINTS TO REMEMBER
YouTube has expanded their time limit on the videos you upload. They will now accept videos that are 15 minutes in length. Keep in mind that this is in top shelf HD.

YOUR NEW TERMINOLOGY

Every bold thinking new age has its own phraseology. Your connection to the online world is moving at the speed of light. So to keep up with this fast and changing world here are a few new words to keep in mind.
WEBCRUSH
This is a real term online to describe an online crush of the opposite sex. It is used in the online world and is popular in many social networks. I have seen this term used widely by Generation Y. If you go onto MySpace or LinkedIn you will find many references to this term. Oddly, it is also used to describe some race car driving sport down south. But that is not to be confused with the real meaning.... an online Internet term of affection!

UBER BLOGGING
When I first coined the term Uber Blogging a while back I was referring to a blog that had RSS feeds pumping in content as well as feeds going out, (that people could subscribe to). It was in a sense a jacked up power blog that made full use out of the latest technology. It was more than a blog that simply had posts on it, (after all, thats boring right kids?). Since the term has come out its been floating around and it has been picked up by some UK magazines.

CYBERCASTING
If you are going to be on the radio get a video of it. This extends the life of your media. Because from there you can digitize that footage and throw it up on the web. Now you are on video and the radio simultaneously and people can match a name to a face. Better yet, you become familiar to the public. It is for this reason of combining the Internet along with Radio that I coined the term.... Cybercasting. Now your media has a life of its own.

MICROSIZING
In the early days of all of this I inquired help from several television recording studios for editing video. Little did I know then that these guys were going to charge me an arm and a leg for what I could do in about an hour. Seriously. So I took the best effects from digital video and editing houses and brought everything inhouse to a desktop level. I cut out all the expense, fluff and political numbness out of the experience from having to go into a studio to get something done. It is for this reason I coined this phrase.

THE BOUNCE UP
This is what happens if you follow our SEO, Internet Marketing, and online strategies. When you combine our methods of podcasting, blogging, RSS, web video and SEO something wonderful happens. Unlike typical SEO firms and PPC situations you will lose your rankings, (and money) within due time. But thanks to our tools WORKING TOGETHER you will experience a phenomenon called THE BOUNCE UP. Your site is transformed into this life saving life raft. You will actually go UP the search engines and most likely stay there. While other sites struggle to stay on top yours will actually do the opposite and bob up and down near the very top TEN.
