GOOGLE CHANGES: Where Can I Get
Decent Web Traffic ? | |||
DETROIT, MICHIGAN – The best thing about having a news site is I get to
But have you tried this? Have you really tried doing this?shoot my mouth off and speak freely. Try doing that on a press release. You can never truly speak your heart and don’t get me started when it comes to quotes. I’m going to just jump right into it…. Look, I get a lot of emails from famous online marketers who swear by, “Stepping In Front Of The Web Traffic”. I’m not kidding… that is what these people tell me. I got emails on top of emails and they are all saying the exact same thing. That is the hip thing to do right now. Just literally buy some software and ---- step in – unannounced in front of all these traffic streams on Google+, YouTube.com and other forms of social media. They continue to tell me that if I put my web site link in front of these people I will get web traffic…. A lot of it… and I will be overwhelmed and this can translate into sales. They got photographic proof of their bank statements and they are impressive.
Most people out there are shaking their heads no. I try everything and
although this soundsgreat in theory many of these software programs are garbage and do not work. OR…. They dowork and the instruction manuals are poorly put together. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to get Traffic Elixir to work properly. I even got tech support and it never worked out for me.Now I see programs popping up for YouTube and they are all telling me to do the same thing. “Just Step In Front Of Web Traffic and The Sales Will Come…. And So Will The Web Traffic… !!!!” Now here is some truth for you. A lot of these Google+ communities are run with some kind ofmoderator and they will not tolerate your little spammy messages on them. They actually kick youout and block you. Just go ahead and try it and let me know how it works for you.
I can understand the theory of jumping into existing traffic streams but
eventually this method of attaining traffic is going to get rejected by Google. The algorithms will change and you will be back at square one again trying to figure out the never ending problem of getting web traffic. But do you know what the REAL problem is? ITS YOU…. Most businesses are slothful enterprises that do next to nothing in the means of story telling. Worse, most businesses have no stories to tell…. Hot Targeted Web Traffic? YOU BUILD IT
The PROBLEM is that we now live in a voyeuristic story culture where people
will spy on your company FIRSTbefore they decide to do business with you. If you are running 10% off coupons and expecting the phone to explode off the hook then you’re in for a lonely and terrifying surprise. Nobody will be clamoring over each other like in the movie, “World War Z” and beat your door down to do business with you. Oh no chicken little, oh no…. far from it. Stories are everything.
I got rejected from this web traffic program recently, (it’s actually happened a
couple of times) because I study everything – and the famous marketer heard about who I was. He refused to service me and said thathe wouldn’t be able to teach me too much. When he asked me how I create web traffic I told him about the extensive amount of writing I do and the kind of networking I do and he said, “You are creating the most expensive web traffic around… you are building it.” He went on to explain that he buys cheap web traffic and that is how he gets around his traffic problems.
But did you know Google is starting to delist websites that have too much phony web traffic?
They are lookingat unusually high bounce rates and will take the sites off the SERPS, (search engine result pages). If that happens to your one website… I am going to assume that you only have one web site…. That is going to tank your business. And it’s happening to thousands of people daily.
· 35% Of All Purchased Web Traffic Is Fake
· Google Is Cracking Down On Fake Web Traffic
· Web Traffic Companies Will Send Bots To Your Site,
and Not Every Hit In Your Counter Is A Real Person
· 83% Of All Companies I Consult With Mismanage Their Web Traffic
So build your empire, build your company and establish your position on
what your company isall about. And by that I mean to ask, “How Well Do You Really Know Your Audience?” Most people don’t know their customers or what they are looking for. Very few businesses have a culture.Worse, they never know. A lot of companies I consult with refuse to even enforce a simple emailsign up list policy. So money continues to walk out the door after every random purchase and in store visit.
Getting a person in the door is expensive. Getting them to come back takes
some effortand this is something that many companies refuse to do. Maybe it’s not knowing what to do,maybe it’s not in the job description and not the employees responsibility. Eventually this is all going to topple down on the business owner.
WHAT ABOUT THE SERPS? Is Being Number One Still Important?
Search engine optimization is important and being number one in your
field is important. That is always going to be the case but you know what’s even more important? Your connection to other businesses and tangent markets is important for lead sources. Keep in mind this is different for every business. But you want to align yourself with businesses that compliment what you are all about. So if you running a hair salon here is what you need to be connected to: SALON – MAIN BUSINESSConnect to – nail salon, wedding planner, clothing boutiques, club promoters, jewelers
Then the other thing you want to consider is what do these kind of That particular
market follows pop culture, popular music, trending videos, and what ever is happening at the moment. They are really into the – “Now”. They don’t care less about your 10%off coupon and certainly will not rack up miles on their car to drive across Metro Detroit just to save a few bucks.
Here is another example:
ROOFING – MAIN BUSINESS Connect to – community websites, community coupon sites, DIY sites, landscaping businesses, deck building businesses, window businesses, fence business etc.
Instead of trying to spam existing businesses you will have to create
content that other people will want to use, share and distribute to others. Can you do that? If not, you better findsomeone that can write some content that you can use to solicit business with. Stories are everything. You are surrounded by what you create.
Make sure it’s fresh and refreshing. If I have to read another one
of your John Lennon,Helen Keller or Morgan Freeman quotes I am going to jump out a window. We need newwords, new analogies don’t just borrow from other people and try to sustain a profitable business off the generosity of some other wordsmith. Create your own brand and establishyour own culture. It’s important. There is nothing more important that creating content that you can pass on and share with other people. The ability to change minds, and to alter the course of your own destiny belongs in your hands. Do not compromise your profit potential by being completely bland and ordinary.
The worst businesses I worked with in the past were jewelry stores and
parts wholesalers. These guys are usually selling their products based on the cheapest price or the best deal. Can’t toot your horn too loud there and there isn’t much of a story to pass on.
· People Love Stories
· People Surf The Web To Be Entertained First
· Our Culture Is Fixated On Pictures
· People Love To Pass Stories Onto Other People
Breaking format helps. Even a lot of the markers that have flooded the
scene in recent years havesubscribed to the 400 word formula when it comes to content. They believe that you must stay withinthe 4oo word limit when it comes to web content. This is based on the press release guidelines when you use a professional service. But when you have a website that rule goes out the window and in fact it is the longer articles that get indexed first on Google. This is even more of the case when the content is original and it comes from you directly.
I read some time ago that Google only indexes 14% of all websites
based on content. I personally think that number is a lot higher than that. But let’s suppose for a minute that is true. You know a lot of websites out there right now are nothing more than glorified business cards with nothing but an address and a phone number. There is no news going on there. Rarely if ever do these websites address anything that is happening in the community or in a niche group.
Keep in mind that these businesses do very little but toot their own horn
about how great they are. This is echoed in social media. When that happens there is no chance tointroduce a new thought, joke, or idea and the company or brand becomes dull. People stopcaring and shuffle off to the next shiny new thing. In this economy you need to be flexible andallow some amount of human interest in your company. If you are sticking to a strict blueprint of what your brand is all about and staying steadfast to a 10% off coupon type of regimen you are destroying your business.
So to summarize here is what you must do:
· Mix A Fair Balance Of Human Interest
· Stay Topical With Current Topics
· Tell True Stories
· Make Your Business Relatable To Others
· Show Case Studies And Invite Conversation
· Write Articles Larger Than 400 Words
· Create Better Sales Offers
· Connect To Tangent Markets
· Hire A Good Content or Copy Writer
· Make Sure Your Stories End Up In Multi Social Media Channels
If you follow this guideline you will be able to attract better people for your business.
Make sure you create a solid story that you can stick with in your business. Remember people are surfing the web for entertainment and are looking for information that is useful. They want to look over your shoulder first before they ever call you and this is very important to remember. |

Detroit's Hot Metro Finds Covers The Elusive New Pixies Album
(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 23, 2014 ) Detroit, Michigan – It has been 20 years since the Alternative rock band, “The Pixies” has produced any new music. That has left a serious void in the hole of pop music and have spawned many imitators in that time span. Some of them have borrowed the famous Kim Deal bass lines and have echoed the eerie lead vocals of Frank Black. But none of these bands have come close to creating a full Pixies sound that has made the 4AD band so iconic to the late 80’s and early 90’s. All that has changed now with a new collection of EP’s and a full album called, “Indy Cindy”.
Detroit based Hot Metro Finds has ripped the album apart to pull out its essence and look at the focal points of what makes this album work. On many levels it is still the same band creating a unified sound out of minimalist vibrations. This album is created minus original member Kim Deal and that has caused some concerns among its original fan base. The Hot Metro Finds take is positive and the review is split up between two of the sites writers for a slightly different view on the subject. What comes out is a critical look at the bands first release, “EP2” and the full release of, “Indy Cindy”.
About Your Hot Metro Finds:
Hot Metro Finds delivers entertainment, music, arts, interesting pop culture commentary, concert information and interviews. There is also business insight and coupons for Metro Detroit businesses.

The Pixies have left 4AD Records and have embarked on a new era with its own record label. The album cover is designed by original graphic artist Vaughn Oliver. That graphic style is one in the same with the band and has brought visual relevance to the Pixies one of a kind sound. The delicate elements of the graphics carries through from the typography and the rough and edgy presentation. On this round the look of Oliver is not as instantly identified as early works.
Hot Metro Finds is an entertainment based website with a focus on Detroit. The site goes a bit beyond the typical news sites on the web. It probes back into the rich history of what the band meant to the city of Detroit and even offers insight on the original fan base. Some of these stories go back to legendary Detroit locations such as St. Andrews Hall where the Pixies played during the Doolittle tour.

Explores Healing Plantars Warts With Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices
Detroit, MI –
The web is a great place to get information and even misinformation. That is
never more true when it comes to health and healing. The subject of plantars
warts conjures up horrible images of torn skin, bloody lesions, and painful
imagery. Some of these images and web videos are hard to watch. This is an ugly
problem that plagues many people. Plantars warts grow on the bottom of the foot
but can also spread onto hands. These are incredibly difficult to get rid of.
The misinformation comes from many people out there who are self medication
without any experience or proper information. The web serves as a platform to
connect with other misinformed people about what to do.
The ranges of
healing range from the bizarre – healing with duct tape – to the sensible, and
that includes using apple cider vinegar. The videos on Youtube are somewhat
gory and hard to watch. They are definitely not for the squeamish. Now author
and marketing master Ted Cantu is sharing the experience of having these
dreadful warts and how to get rid of them. The story appears on a news website
called Hot Metro Finds and it covers a holistic experience that happened in the
early 2000’s. This story is based on real events and talks about ridding this
grim condition with fresh vegetable and fruit juices.
The article doesn’t just talk about the experience of getting
well but also shares the juice recipe that made the healing possible. Therecipe includes carrots, green apples, celery, half a beet, and a handful ofgreen parsley. The idea here is to kick start the digestive system, flush the
pancreas and then pump fresh chlorophyll into the blood stream and clean out
the junk. The results are phenomenal and the body is cleaned out at a cellular
level. The story goes into the details on how the healing events occurred.
Hot Metro Finds covers entertainment and articles on music
but also dips into the spiritual end of life. It is just enough to get the
skeptics interested and just enough to blend spirituality into rock and roll world.
The idea for Hot Metro Finds was to give a full perspective of life in Metro
Detroit with a modern day view of life. For Metro Detroiters that means a blend
of R&B, rock and roll, a comeback for a dying city and spirituality. It is
not an easy project because Metro Detroit is not an easy place to write about.
Not everything there is black and white and there are many facets of life in
the grand metropolis.

Who Is A Gurus? And Who Isn’t? Now You Can Call Them Out
Hey chicken little. There really is a way you can find out who is good at Internet Marketing and who isn’t. This always blows my mind on how many retail store owners, doctors, and professional businesses that don’t know this. You can find out how many links a website has and how well it is constructed. I have documented this to death on my websites.
This is going to save you a considerable amount of sweat, toil and worry when you want to find out the truth about your competitors and the slothful gurus who are busy trying to pounding your door down. This is something that a lot of these so called, “Online Marketing Geniuses” lack. I have seen the best of these high profilers flop like a dead fish on this one and the truth should be so obvious.
Check Your Links
Is someone telling you how much traffic they are getting lately? Do these numbers seem inflated and out of touch with reality. No worries. They are. But here is a simple thing you can do with your website in question. Go to GOOGLE and type in…. links www.yourwebsite.com into the search window and hit search. If the number comes back as 14 or 42 links run for your life. The guy who is trying to get your approval on his manly genius is a full time bullshit artist. It is hard to get 8,000 daily hits with a paltry number of website links. It just doesn’t happen.
The other thing you can do is look at a site like – www.SeoCentro.Com. Now pop your website address into the MetaTag Analyzer and see how the search engines really see your site? Most of the “gurus” sites that I have looked at with a microscope comes up unbelievably popular. We are looking at a 37% optimized website. Usually these guys stick to the golden rule book of web site schlock and droll out the routine 5 pages. Sometimes they get aggressive and bang out 10 pages. Here is the clincher. The most overlooked item in these websites are sitemaps for some weird reason. This is a very common thing to screw up and the IT companies seem to neglect this item the most. This is why I feel sorry for real estate and insurance companies so much. You know the sites I am talking about. This is the kind of “website” where they have 500 agents all living on the same server. So dumb. But don’t get me started on this…..
The bottom line here is that getting a phenomenal steady stream of traffic at this level is incredibly hard if not impossible. I actually think it is hard to get substantial numbers from one traffic source even if it is a major search engine such as Google or Yahoo and so on.
GURUS ARE LAZY -- (EXCEPT WHEN THEY STEAL YOUR DOUGH)
A lot of the gurus out there flat out steal your money. I have had this happen to me and it has happened to many people. There are a lot of overnight experts on the web these days and many of them have not survived long sufficiently enough to make it to the Facebook wave. Web gurus fade out and fall apart like discarded porn stars. We are living in the age of the Internet and there have been 6 major generations of new media in the last 20 years. It is not just the gurus that have fallen out of favor with the rest of the human race but also high tech website companies and media providers, (think digital video editing houses).
The worst of these vermin seem to thrive in Facebook. This type of marketing is very easy to do and many of them have ads and are popping up as the flavor of the day. The underlying myth that connects them all is quick wealth or the perception of wealth. But take a good look at the websites that they are creating and also take a good look at the results they are supposedly getting. There is usually a mismatch.
In my quest for someone who is a knowledgeable web traffic genius has been an unfruitful one. I have found this to be an elusive beast. I haven’t met one yet. Part of the problem here is that I do not have the full faith that web traffic exists in a popular search engine. I believe now that the full force of web traffic exists in a particular brand or even a cult brand, or big box store. This is where people gravitate to first before anywhere else. That is why creating a blog and expecting people to flock to it is a waste of time for the business owner. The web has become a very frenetic and impatient place and people are scrambling and literally stepping over one another to get what they want. In short, people are selfish and will go straight to what they want. That means immediate satisfaction.
POWERFUL URLS AS OPPOSED TO POPULAR SEARCH ENGINES
Whenever I see someone pontificating over the greatness of DMOZ I want to hurl. This is a seriously outdated technique and no longer belongs in a chapter of relevant techniques. The other flawed approach is to build a blog. Yet, I see these techniques pop up in garbage books about web traffic. There is too much regurgitation going on in popular web site books. A lot of these rags are written by jaded college professors with near sighted notions on what life is like on the “outside”. I tend to not gravitate through someone who is living “vicariously” through me in the first place.
A lot of website books are garbage.
So what I am telling you is to take a good look at high traffic URL’s as opposed to a website search engine such as Google. Recently Google+ took some hits as being the hip thing to use. Google also pulled the plug on Knol, which was an alternative approach to a blog/Squidoo. These things popped up in the Google algorithm but I don’t think they were major traffic pullers. Someone looking for ATV parts is going to go on Google shopping or Ebay as opposed to spending any time on my knol or blog post.
The traffic stream that is going through an ATV parts review site URL is going to have much more traffic pulling power than anything I can create. It has life and an existing search activity. Don’t believe me? Look at Groupon and Netflix. These companies leave their lead generation coupons on 24/7 through a variety of websites most notably www.Foodnetwork.com and that is interesting to me.
Why more retail, professional and medical businesses don’t pay attention to this is beyond me.
Enough yammering…. I have to get back to work.
You false gurus out there read this blog obviously. I hope you’re taking notes.

RE: Don Lapre Dead: An Incredible 10 Year Rise Comes To An End
If anyone would like to connect me with Lapres family I would be interested. I have written two books on Amazon.com and would welcome a project to put the record straight.

Don Lapre took his own life last Sunday, October 2 2011. Apple computer leader Steve Jobs died just a few days later of pancreatic cancer. This is an interesting turn of events. These were two giants in their own respective fields and the attitude toward the two of them could not be any different.
NPR, (National Public Radio) attributed a wide range of innovations to Jobs as it pertains to the Internet. Some of these innovations included things like podcasting, and social media and the entire scope of the web. These grandiose projects and merits are handed upon Jobs without any foundation of truth. The technologies owned by Google were purchased from 3rd party developers and were not the creation of Jobs. Yet, the media, and the public is handing him undue credit in this arena.
Don Lapre, on the other hand introduced the concept of marketing, getting customers, and making profits through a wide range of techniques. He sold courses that he wrote about how to land more business for yourself. I want to point out that he created a substantial amount of wealth through solid marketing ability, (to the tune of $52 million dollars during one of the worst recessions in American history). The public’s attitude toward capitalism is very poor and misguided. This guy is looked down upon for creating wealth. He is also being berated for showing others how to create profits for themselves.
In my mind this is a very warped and uneven reality.
It just shows you how out of touch the average American is when it comes to creating wealth, profits and/or stabilizing one self in such a horrible economy.
There is talk about America becoming a third world nation. It is being projected as such in major media circles. I ask you what are your ideas about money, money management, and making a decent living for yourself?
Who would ever think that these traits are not only despised but also looked down upon. In my mind, that is very Anti American in nature.

Online Publisher Takes On A New Vision For Post 911 American Businesses
Detroit, Michigan – This Friday marks the 10th Anniversary or 911. The tragic and horrific events have forever changed the way America looks at itself and at the world at large. So much has happened to this country since then and you can feel the impact on the way business is done and how we contact one another. This is never been more so true in Michigan. In recent years Michigan has lost several outstanding news sources including The Ann Arbor News, Eccentric, and niche papers such as the Phenomenews. The distribution of essential news and advertising has reached a cliffhanger. Recently an online publisher is about to open the flood gates of opportunity.
Ted Cantu, an Ex-Art Director in advertising, sat in many Internet web studios prior the events of 911. He was part of the ill-fated “Dot Com Era” which was an age when search engine technology was yet in its infancy. As you may recall a lot of investment dollars from venture capital funding was fumbled and lost during this time period. As a result of that experience Cantu has led his team into developing web presence that works and delivers first page visibility on search engines. This is something many business owners have tried in vain to do over the years without paying a small fortune in paid search marketing.
Putting service based companies and professionals on page 1 of Google, Bing and Yahoo is only part of the big picture. A recent problem that has come up has centered around the effectiveness of direct mail. The U.S. Post Office is losing billions of dollars of revenue per year and there has been more participation on the Internet. The popular view of the clients that Cantu serves has been in favor of more aggressive campaigns on the Internet. They have expressed a great disinterest in the traditional media channels including billboards, radio, television, postage and newspapers. The client list includes doctors, home remodeling companies and other professional positions.
Cantu and his team have been developing direct contact with the right prospects online thanks to social media tools like Twitter, and Facebook. They have been creating lead generation through this type of intimate high touch environment. In addition, they are finding financing for their professional clientele to create more positive economic outcomes in Michigan.

DAN KENNEDY - Best Book In Years !! Price Guide Offers Powerful Advice
No B.S. Price Strategy - by Dan Kennedy
Okay - I admit - Kennedy and I are pretty hard on eachother. Keep in mind that I have studied in the lions den with a lot of his students. The last post I did on him I more or less trashed his book about marketing in the new economy. I said it was a rehash. I have read a ton of his books and newsletters and can speak his language. But lets forget all that.... His points are valid and if you are not already a convert you should get all of his stuff. Lets move on....
This new book, "Price Strategy" is dead on. I have gotten a lot of useful insight out of this book and to be quite honest a lot of the view points are powerful. I see a lot of businesses I consult for ask for ridiculously low fees. I think a lot of them suffer from low self esteem. This can stem from depression era thinking. On the other hand a lot of them think in the commodity mindset. If Kennedy didn't write this book than someone had to do it and come forward because it really lays it on the line. By that I mean that it speaks from real world experience. If you are used to talking nicely to your boss or live in a cube and live in a world of permission you may not relate. Its a must read for every street guy who is out there fighting for a living and selling to put food on the table and to keep the bills paid. Its blunt, its offensive to some, but accurate.
How Can This Book Help You?
If nothing else it can help you cut through the clutter. By that I mean that you can save a lot of time on the phone haggling over price. You can also use it to sniff out weakness. I was able to sharp shoot some potential clients on the phone to find out if they are broke or not and saved myself 4 hours of meeting them in person, (including the drive over to the meeting location etc.). This sort of habitual meeting policy can criple your financial health. This is a fundamental that I am constantly trying to improve on. I do not take on every Tom, Dick and Harry I meet on the street as a client. That sort of thinking can bring your business to a grinding halt. You also let in a lot of Yo Yo's who can fly apart without a minutes notice and bring in an extroadinary source of unwanted drama.
Price is a complicated issue. Its more than numbers. Its more than what you think your product is worth. It has everything to do with the people you are trying to service. This includes a lot about perception on price and what it is that you are really selling. This could be about saving someone time. This could also be about selling money at a discount, (a big concept in all of Kennedy's teachings).
If you never thought about your prices you need to take a closer look at it. Find out why you come up with your numbers. Find out if these numbers speak about your business or if you are following someone else's defination of your industry. Here is my spin on it....
I have the tendency to take things to another level and I will touch upon just a few points.
RELIGION
This is a deal killer for me. Often prospects will ask me for information regarding my spiritual beliefs during a presentation which I find severly off topic. I usually blow off the question. But I find that a lot of people who bring this issue into a business offering have very poor wealth attraction. They will often use the God element to defend their price position and often will drag in scripture into the negotiation process. This is bad news and you should be aware of it.
GOVERNMENT FEARS
I get a lot of people in the medical community that talk about the horrors of chem trails, conspiracies, and poisoned water supplies. While I find this sort of talk unnerving and highly disturbing I do not find it nearly as disturbing as the amount these prospects are willing to cough up for my services. To put it politely these fragile souls can barely come up with a fraction of my current fee schedule. They also make THE WORST clients and quite honestly should leave business altogether.
There was a really good article a few months back on USA Today regarding the different types of God people believe in. Some of these versions judge harshly and hand out intense punishments in the form of hurricanes and destruction. Another version of God is more Universal and is more balanced in the aspect of karma. All in all there was roughly 12 different types of God people subscribe to. This can also bring into play how people view money and prosperity.
Now I know Kennedy did not go into all of these aspects in his book but I am merely elaborating on past concepts that I have heard in his circles. I draw my own personal experiences into this as well. I want to also mention the importance of NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, which is the study of human communication, (verbal and non verbal) into the price and sales process. These things should be studied closely when you deal with the whole spectrum of the sale.
This has everything to do with trust and building adequate raport. This will enable one participant to deliver money from his account directly into yours.
There are parts of this book that have already been dog eared. Within just a few pages I sensed fresh material and honestly I haven't enjoyed a Kennedy book this good in years. I can hold it up to his No B.S. Sales Guide.
The Book Has My Vote
Years ago I dabbled into the GKIC groups, (Kennedy's Marketing Groups) and met a lot of his herd toe to toe. While those meetings were very influential upon my marketing growth I have found getting the straight source from the author himself to be the best experience. Although getting the straight dope can be a bit of a challenge. A lot of Kennedy's top students will often contribute to the books, ( yes, there are guest authors in this book too) as well as some of his courses. I have found that getting Kennedy to open up with some solid and fresh content to be somewhat of a rarity these days.
Part of the reason for this is that his corporate partner, Bill Glazier, oversees the course material and the publishing aspect of his business. I am hungry from the real source from the man himself. I was fortunate to spend a day with him in a closed room session in Nashville, TN a few years back. I can tell you that this book touches upon some of that magic and it is worth picking up.
Its the best thing he's written in years.
Nuff said on that.

Growing Up Digital: The Changing Face of The Economic Landscape
REMEMBER THE 1990'S? BACK WHEN WE HAD JOBS?
Job culture was great. It was short and sweet. I caught the tail end of it when I worked in Chicago and New York City. Those were fun days. Little did I know that it was going to be short lived. My oh my have things changed. Back in the Dot Com Era my idea of a good time was getting a paycheck for $2800 for two weeks honest work. Now I am able to bang that out in a single day. In the 90's I wanted to work for MTV and be a creative director. Nowadays MTV is little more than Maternity TV. Its a sound board for knocked up teens.
The funny thing is that even in this modern age those annoying teens complain about how lousy thier lives are. That is amusing. We are living in America but you would hardly know it. Now that people are being thrown onto the street they live their lives like they are nothing more than imprisoned inmates.
We have more television channels than ever before, (my carrier has over 800) and gazillions of websites. And do not forget the thousands of satellite radio stations all over the world. Traditional television is mimicking the web. You won't find television shows like, "The Odd Couple", (man I miss Felix Unger) or "Happy Days" anymore because we are all too busy bitching at one another on national television. A lot of what you see is called reality television in America. I am not sure how things are in other countries but in the USA we have regressed to a nation of spineless whiners.
Its war now in America and I am on the street. I know how to sell and maneuver through all the nonsense. I have to tell you that I am having the time of my life. I am a hustler and a self professed go getter. I don't know if I could ever adapt to job culture. It makes me uneasy to have to hear water cooler chatter about birthdays, 3 way love triangles and sharp shooting office politics.
I am too old to have a job according to the New York Times. I am over the grandaddy age of 39 and considered irrelevant by many standards. That was in the Sunday edition a few weeks back. Well this ancient old man has a few things to say about the job situation. If we are going to let our advertising and tech companies fall into the hands of over educated 20 something industry newbies we are generally screwed.
Retail is really in grave danger. Don't forget that the old ways of getting the word out in the forms of television, radio and newspapers is a thing of the past. I'd like to throw the concept of middle management in there as well. Its all useless. Meanwhile, who is going navigate the business populace through all of this muck?
THE COLLAPSE OF MEDIA CHANNELS
Newspapers are falling apart. I don't mean consilidation here I am talking about newspaper companies closing their doors altogether. Radio on the other hand is getting more desperate and its also getting more expensive. Television is just as ineffective as ever before and worse -- nobody is paying attention to the commercials. The only time that the public seems to notice is to watch someone else's wretched life fall apart on some reality television show.
Nonsense aside who is going to advertise for the business class?
Is anyone capable of doing a good enough job? Limo rental in Livonia Michigan uses the web to get the word out. Things are actually pretty bleak when you think about it. Now the old vanguards of the advertising set are suddently the shoulder of comfort when it comes to SEO search engine optimization and social media. Like rats on a sinking ship these old fossils are becoming overnight saviors in the media. I can't blame them for trying to stay alive in this blazing inferno of tech overload.
Does that mean you should do it? Why is CBS Radio hawking SEO services? The web is a complex animal and it is going to take more than rotating banners to sell a product or a service. The phone companies are offering template websites that do little more than pop up on cue. These really under perform when it comes to the vital stats that keep a business afloat. When it comes to creating links, and achieving page rank the crusaders of tech fall silent.
But that is just the beginning of the charade.

Ted Cantu Is Full Of Truth - Part 2
Take a good look at this video -- it got 15,000 hits and counting. It took pennies to make, no script, no actors, no special effects....
In fact, the product is its own special effect and it performs brilliantly in front of the camera. It was by chance that the presenter of this video was wearing a black shirt. He holds the dark hair color sample in front of his shirt and gives it a good swish and voila.... the color disappears.
Compared to my auto guys this video really did the job. When I looked at my automotive companies their videos were still getting zero views. How is this happening consistently? The answer is very simple....
The reason why is because you do not have to go for Hollywood type effects with your video on the web. In fact, it is much better if you don't. This is the kind of thing that really kills belief in your viewer. What people are looking for most on the web is realism and beleivability. That is the most important thing I can tell you.
Go for realism because realism sells.
coincidently, commercial television gets it and creates reality shows left and right. MTV has been doing this for a while to the point where it doesn't even show music anymore. People complaining to eachother on television sells. People trying to achieve a goal on television sells. This is a far cry from where television was a few years back in the 80's with over the top budgets like THE A TEAM, and TJ HOOKER....
Fat people sweating it out on the tube trying to lose weight -- thats whats hot. College kids complaining to each other in a house they cannot afford -- thats what sells.
Web video is the same way. Go for the realism......
Now try to explain this at your next middle management meeting.....

Ted Cantu Is Not Only RIght and Ethical, He's A Damn Good SEO
"IM BACK, BIGGER THAN LIFE, AND TWICE AS UGLY !!"
You know the last few months have been pretty hysterical. Living in Metro Detroit one doesn't have the luxury of being a total putz. You really cannot hide here and expect to make decent money. First of all, our entire media framework has collapsed into rubble and our newspapers are on life support or out of business. There is nowhere to advertise.....
If you want to get the word out about your business you have two choices.... pay through the nose for pay per click, or take up religion. The religion option in Metro Detroit is a little over done, but many people opt for that solution.
I like to take on the search engines head on with SEO and face any or all rejection that comes with it. That way you can find find out just how good you are. This is something that a lot of companies are not willing to do. So many of them shrivel up and hide out and pray for another answer.
Search engine optimization will do more than keep your doctors office lights on - it will also keep you in business.
THE ONLINE MARKETING GURUS FALL APART IN 2010Going through the Rip Off Report recently was quite a shock, all of our old heroes of -- not so long ago -- have ended up in this garbage heap called, Rip Off Report. There are stories in there about the illusive Stephen Pierce, Jeff Paul, Matt, (the ex savior) Bacak, and of course Don Lapree. I actually fell asleep during one of Matt Bacaks presentations a few years ago. Some of these guys have really challenged the state and have found themselves in multi million dollar lawsuits and I find this interesting for several reasons.
Now before you jump all over these guys get something straight. These guys made a lot of money. Jeff Paul claimed that after he tried a few of Dan Kennedys techniques he actually pulled 30 million dollars in sales. I don't really know how accurate this can be but that is what he claimed on one of his tapes. A lot of what you find in his kit is some fairly decent information. It is watered down Dan Kennedy for the most part and that kit will only make sense to you if you have studied marketing for a long period of time. I had to order the thing twice in a two year period to see if any changes had been made to it and if it still made any sense to me.
The truth about these guys is that they did make a lot of money and because of it have slacked in customer service. This ranges from basic things like not answering the phone when things go sour to flat out hiding from their customers. Gary Halbert actually went to prison for stealing from his customers. The conduct of these individuals is pretty ridiculous. You will read reports of these guys taking as much as $50 grand off of their customers and not supplying any value.... heinous.
Im disappointed with these guys because I studied through them and learned a great deal about marketing through them. Well, most of them, that is... I have studied and learned a great deal from the ones who didn't rip me off. Some of them have ripped me off and I talk about that in this blog....
2011 - And Why Marketing MattersA few years ago marketing did not matter. We had graphic design and MTV. Those two things actually stood for something and we weren't bombarded with so much web stuff. People lost their jobs and then decided that marketing was the way to go. The truth is there are a lot of shitty marketers out there who should flat out quit the business and stop embarrasing all the rest of us. Just because you lost your job at GM doesn't mean you should be a marketer. All it means is that you should go out and get another job, somewhere else.
There is a need for good marketers however, especially now -- when traditional media is falling apart including newspapers and Yellow Pages. Online marketing makes the most sense to me as our country caves in and we lose our economic sensibilities to things like outsourcing.
To add more trauma to our economy comes MLM's and franchising. These rigid spinsters add all sorts of unnecessary rules and regulations to inflate their stuffed shirts and fractured thinking. They go out of their way to install fear, order, and limited profitability to the denizens they enslave. Most of these people, and I include mortgage, real estate and insurance in this group, need marketing the most as their industries are impacted by things out of their control -- such as big branding, and third party competition.
With so many rules and regulations as a Nation we have lost our basic liberties and freedoms. As for companies and industries out there in America who still have a choice on where to spend their marketing dollar I say that dollar is best invested in smart online makreting.

Buying Airtime Is An Expensive Alternative
There was a time when I had a radio show in Detroit. I had to get sponsors and it was a miserable experience. I had about ten listeners and it was the same ten people who would call me week after week. Before podcasting and web video it was the only way to get the message out about your business. That meant that you would have to shell out a fortune every week to get anyone to notice you.
Recently that has all changed. Youtube has gone through some major changes. You can now upload up to 15 minutes of video at a time. That video can be uploaded straight from your camera and you no longer have to worry about crunching it down. You can actually upload HD video up to 2GB at a time.
CHEAPER THAN BROADCASTING
The aethestics of web video work differently than television. First of all you do not have to apply Hollywood production values. Also you do not have to worry about hiring a script writer or using models. I have done both of those things at one time while producing web video.... It is not necessary.
In fact, the more homeade something looks the more viewers you are going to have. When you use the web you will not have to worry about buying any media airtime. This means you will not have to deal with broadcasting fees. You are using free bandwidth from the Youtube.com servers.
The only costs you have associated with video is producing the video yourself and doing any type of editing. Time, is the biggest cost of doing web video. in the days to come I think you will be better served if you use web media when it comes to promoting your company. Traditional media is always going to be expensive and time consuming.
Think about the kind of people who look at your tagged video content. These are people are in a sense pre-sold on what you can provide. This is a more attentive audience than radio or television.

IM STILL UNEMPLOYED !! THANK YOU DETROIT - I MEAN THAT, THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
I am a man of thanks. I cannot tell you grateful I am to be living in such rural conditions because its toughened me up. Its made me climb the walls and find a sensible answer to all of this unemployment and madness.
Its caused me to create a kick ass real estate SEO marketing course. I am selling this mindbomb to real estate agents all across this great nation. I am teaching these agents the ABC's of REBEL MARKETING. We are throwing out all of the old rules and attacking the web with great vigor!

The results are amazing. We are getting our sites ranked in 6 days into tight markets. Creating traffic systems that blow the competition to pieces. The list goes on and on... Detroit.... what can I say. I used to be angry about all of this but these days I couldn't be happier.
Now I get to spend more time with my baby boy.
I am truly grateful......
Check out the stuff we did at Kawasaki....

Check out the stuff we did for our real estate clients....

Now we are going to be taking on even more intense online environments....
PS... real estate agents - embrace me -- our time has come!!!
Lets make a fortune together

Beautiful, Spiritual, Web 2.0 Savvy --- and Its Going To Cost You 100k Per Year To Hire Me
STOP ME BEFORE I SAY SOMETHING OUTRAGEOUS......
Im sick of these spiritual people crawling out of the woodwork spouting the Laws of Attraction. These people look like models and obviously cant land the gig!
So they are becoming marketers.
Lucky Us !! I have seen some of these women border on grand larceny and charge as much as 100K per client per year. I ask men, what do you get for that kind of money....? Do you learn how to Tweet? Do you learn how to get a traffic system? Please tell me you get a little bit of SEO.
NOPE.
You get ZILCHO.
You get perfect teeth, and some gibberish about the Laws of Attraction and how to be nice to people.... for a hundred grand.
You're better off buying a low grade racehorse. Good luck getting your moneys worth back. We are living in the age of high ROI. People are losing their homes, they are no jobs -- and now we are being bombarded with these miserable failures.
Still, I have to give them some credit. They aren't posing for mens magazines. Apparently, ripping off the Universe pays better. But it is appalling to see so many of these floozies flaunt the almighty dollar with some peppered philosophies on high end spirituality.
At least I studied Judaism, Hinduism, and Kabbalah. I have studied Kundalini too for the last 6 years. I come from a place from knowing. I never felt the urge to take my shirt off and offer an intergalactic stud service for the disempowered.
People are nuts.
Pick up a book. Learn how to sell something. But I would think twice before I would fork over a hundred grand to any one of these runway con artists.
I saw some of their courses and I was shocked and outraged and what you get. There is one person, who shall remain nameless who has about 20 DVDs - without an ounce of worth to any of them.... We are talking about Kingergarten principals here.
Wealth attraction? Don't make me vomit.
I will.... I will seriously vomit.

500,000 Jobless People Hit Our Michigan Streets - TODAY~!
ITS OFFICIAL
For anyone who is keeping score with the Michigan economy. Today marks a milestone. 500,000 people have lost their unemployment benefits from the state and are SOL. I have given up on looking for "work" in this state years ago.
The conditions are lopsided and many unfortunate people are out of options. This comes at a very bad time. As I write this more newspapers are collapsing. More companies are wondering what they are going to do in weeks to come.
NPR reported that the state is cutting off the funds for unemployment benefits. Many of these people were on extensions.
20,000 people are leaving this state on a monthly basis.... ?? Are these numbers correct? Right now I have heard this rumor.

Web 2.0 PR: What If You Are On The RIP OFF REPORT?

There's always two sides to every story.
But sometimes a belligerent company can slander you all over the web. I have seen TV journalists do this as well as PR companies. There is usually very little you can do about this catastrophic event. You just have to sit back and be a victim. That was the way it was normally handled .... until recently.
If you find yourself on the RIP OFF REPORT or worse.... you can get those ugly, nasty headlines and articles blasted off the front pages of Google with Web 2.0 PR. It is a little known fact that good Web PR can actually make most of those problems a non issue. You can count on press releases going viral in most cases. Over time your negative press on the web will start to disappear.
It takes time to do this because each industry is different. You will have to also keep in mind that if your company is getting trashed in a forum this can take longer to erase... especially if there are a lot of posts on it.

Web 2.0 PR - The Power Of The Press
Its amazing.
You know two years ago when I started doing online promotions nobody knew what I was talking about. But now, the world is listening to the things that I say. USA TODAY just ran a press release on me and one of my clients -- Anna Russo.
Anna is a NLP specialist out of Metro Detroit. She is an author, speaker and works with high profile athletes and CEO's -- she is famous. Now, she is more famous than usual thanks to the magic of Web 2.0 PR. In the grand scheme of things we got the world in the palm of our hands.
And let me tell you why....
ANN ARBOR NEWS CALLED IT QUITS
A few months back The Ann Arbor News called it quits. This popular Michigan newspaper had been a college town staple for decades. Now in this modern age of iphones, ipods and hand held computers this A2 classic has called it a day. This paper is supposed to live online. And for now, that is exactly what it intends to do.
http://content.usatoday.com/topics/article/Places,+Geography/Towns,+Cities,+Counties/Ann+Arbor/0eFN0dtefheLL/1
Now, I am creating news that lives in some high profile areas. Best of all --- it is creating quite a stir in a short amount of time. This is key because now we have credibility as well as links pointing back to us which enhances our SEO, (search engine optimization).
This is a lot of control for companies in Michigan. Now they can gain attention from the press and get more exposure than they ever could in a printed format.

Ted Cantu on Doing Business In Michigan
When I meet with people I do not accept the following “offers”.
1. I will not buy property from you.
2. I will not “sign up” under your MLM or MLM ventures
3. Absolutely no pornography
4. I will not join your church
5. Do not ask me for a money loan
6. I do not create companies for people I meet off the street and work for a “commission”
7. I am not looking for partnerships
8. I will not consider leasing commercial space from you
9. I am not looking to hawk your products
10. I will not join, distribute, or promote your non profit
11. No barters
12. No trades
13. No Amway, Send out Cards, Vitamin drinks etc.
14. I will not endorse your political party or charity
As you can see I am not your "Typical" Michigan businessman. I never claimed to be. But I do not succomb to the alphabetical stereotypical Midwest list of ordinary practices.
As I have claimed before. I was born in Michigan but I was not raised here. This just goes out for the record and to keep the record straight.
